Agile Development

Agile web application development and custom software creation.

Tier 2 delivers custom software and standards-based web applications, using a variety of tools, languages and leading development frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate, and responsive UI techniques based on HTML5 / CSS3.

Working closely with business and IT stakeholders we employ an iterative approach to software delivery, which greatly increases productivity and improves overall software quality. The standards-based nature of our application development helps ensure compatibility – whether running on Red Hat® JBoss® Middleware technologies – or any other Java EE compliant platform.

Tier 2 Consulting uses Scrum Agile Methodologies Tier 2’s standard project delivery approach is based on ‘Scrum’, which is an agile methodology.

By ‘agile’, we mean an approach based on iterative and incremental development, where requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between cross-functional teams.  It promotes adaptive planning, evolutionary development and delivery, a time-boxed iterative approach, and encourages rapid and flexible response to change.

Scrum provides a balance between functional flexibility (the ability for users to adapt or add new requirements as they see the solution evolving), and cost control.

By combining excellent technical expertise with agile working, Tier 2 assists clients from a wide range of business sectors to deliver high-quality, robust custom web applications – including mobile apps, dealership management systems, patient record portals, secure broker platforms and document management solutions.

Tier 2 Consulting have created mobile applications that deliver operational efficiencies, build trust and leverage our data intelligence to the benefit of all parties. These apps are a perfect example of how we continually strive to do “property, properly”™.

Examples of Agile Web Development projects are provided below:

iOS Mobile Applications for the Property Market

Move With Us wanted to ‘externalise’ their data to create iOS tablet-based sales support applications for their primary sales channels – firstly their network of independent estate agents and secondly their house building partners running on-site marketing offices. Two apps are now in commercial use – MarketApp and iPX – developed using standards-based web / mobile development technologies and best practices.

Interactive ‘Game’ – Higher Education (Dental)

The project required the development of an interactive “game” for students to assess their knowledge of Dental Public Health. The game requires students to submit an “action plan” by selecting the most appropriate interventions (e.g. “oral health promotion in schools”, “sweets off the till campaign”) from an interactive map of Dahlgren and Whitehead’s “Social Determinants of Health”.Students have a limited number of attempts to submit a perfect plan, which is marked according to a configurable scoring matrix. The application also provides a pre- and post-game questionnaire, links to instructional videos and evidentiary material that can be reviewed while the game is in progress. 2 versions of the game have been produced: an English-language version used at King’s College London, and a Thai-languauge version used at Mahidol University in Thailand.
